Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has declared that Ghana’s economy is on a steady path to recovery and transformation as government rolls out its 2026 Budget Statement
Presenting the budget in Parliament on Thursday November 13 205 under the theme, “Resetting for Growth, Jobs and Economic Transformation.” Dr. Forson recounted the dire state of the economy the National Democratic Congress (NDC) inherited.
He said the administration met “an economy in distress, weighed down by debt, weakened by mismanagement, and stripped of confidence.”
He explained that the 2025 Budget, the first under the NDC government, was “an act of courage — a declaration that Ghana will rise again through reform, discipline, and visionary leadership.”
Dr. Forson said the 2026 budget builds on that foundation, setting the tone for sustainable growth and job creation.
“The government has chosen the harder but higher road of reform, renewal, and resilience,” he stated.
The Finance Minister highlighted significant progress made in restoring fiscal discipline, bringing inflation under control, stabilizing the cedi, and rekindling investor confidence.
He assured Ghanaians that the focus for 2026 is to consolidate these gains and push for inclusive growth that creates jobs and opportunities across all sectors.
