Ghana Police Service join Asantehene to pay tribute on first Akwasidae of 2026

The Ghana Police Service showcased its reverence for the Asante Kingdom’s monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on the first Akwasidae festival of 2026.

The Police Royal Ladies, led by Commander Kafui Agyemang, organized an honour parade, golden stool formation display, and a human alphabet of “Ayekoo” to celebrate the occasion.

Inspector-General of Police, Christina Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) joined the celebration in Sunday February 1,2026 , expressing the Service’s gratitude for the Asantehene’s recent visit to their headquarters.

The event drew dignitaries, including Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, former Attorney-General Betty Mould-Iddrisu, and former Minister for Trade and Industries Alan Kyerematen.
The display highlighted the Police Service’s appreciation for the Asantehene’s support and recognition of his role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The Akwasidae festival is a significant cultural event in the Asante calendar, providing an opportunity for the community to come together and honor their monarch.
This year’s celebration is particularly special, marking the first Akwasidae festival of 2026.
The event was marked by a sense of unity and camaraderie, with the Police Service reaffirming its commitment to working with traditional leaders to maintain law and order in the region.
