Sammy Gyamfi father-in-law case: bail setback keeps Kumawood actress in custody

Kumawood actress Patricia Osei Boateng could remain in custody after the Asokwa Circuit Court 1 raised concerns over the validity of documents submitted to satisfy her bail conditions in a robbery-related case.

Making her second appearance before the court on Tuesday (21 April), the registrar’s office had flagged a memo indicating that one of the property documents presented by a surety had already been used in another case, Republic vrs Isaac Marfo.

The court ruled that while the bail terms remain in force, the affected surety must replace the document with a different leasehold or freehold property title before the conditions can be fully met.

Defence Counsel

Defence counsel Richard Acquah told the court the documents were filed in good faith and said they were unaware the same paperwork had been used previously. The defence assured the court that the issue would be rectified.

Boateng, also known as “Boatema”, was granted bail of 500,000 cedis with two sureties in connection with charges of abetment of crime to wit robbery linked to an incident at Ohwim Tigo Junction in Kumasi.

She is also implicated in a wider police investigation into a robbery syndicate in the Ashanti Region, connected to a fatal incident involving the father-in-law of GOLDBOD CEO, Sammy Gyamfi.

The court, presided over by Fred Obikyere, noted that prosecutors are awaiting advice from the Attorney-General and adjourned the case to 2 May 2026, for further directions.

Until the revised bail requirements are fulfilled, the court said the accused will remain in custody.

Other suspects

Earlier last month, two other suspects, Kojo Amposah and Emmanuel Kwame Appiah, were remanded on robbery charges, while another suspect, Bashiru Tanko, remains in custody assisting with investigations.

Police say the case is linked to a fatal robbery on February 10 at Ohwim Amanfrom, where a Toyota Hilux vehicle was stolen from its owner, Andrews Amankwaa, who later died from gunshot wounds.

The deceased will be buried on 30 May.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to dismantle the wider criminal network.
