MoMo vendor robbed by police officer speaks: I urinated after he threatened to shoot me and my daughter

A mobile money vendor in the Ashanti Region has recounted her terrifying ordeal after she was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by a police inspector in Kumasi.
Speaking to OTEC News, the victim, Victoria Arko, said she was with her daughter when the officer threatened to shoot them after taking over 38,000 cedis from her.
“After asking for the money, he cocked the gun and said he was going to shoot me and my daughter,” she narrated.
“At once I urinated on my daughter out of fear because he cocked the gun on me,” she added.
Victoria Arko said she is still living in fear following the incident.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station over his alleged involvement in the robbery.
The suspect was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following intelligence-led operations.
A search conducted at his residences led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GHS 9,835.00.
On May 11, 2026, the suspect was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court and remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear on May 29, 2026.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, the Command confirmed investigations are ongoing.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station for his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi,” DSP Godwin Ahianyo stated.
