The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council says the region is fully set to participate in the nationwide clean-up exercise declared by President John Dramani Mahama for Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.

According to the Council, the exercise is aimed at improving environmental sanitation, preventing sanitation-related diseases, mitigating flooding, and promoting healthier communities.

In a statement signed by Michael Owusu Amoako, Esq., Chief Director of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, on Wednesday, all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and other stakeholders have been directed to coordinate activities in their areas.

“Friday, 10th July, 2026 has been designated as Institutional Clean-up Day,” the statement said.

“All MDAs, MMDAs, educational institutions, health facilities, security establishments, and public and private institutions are expected to clean their office premises and immediate surroundings.”

The Ghana Education Service has also been tasked to ensure participation of all Basic, Junior High and Senior High Schools across the region.

“Saturday, 11th July, 2026 will be observed as Community Clean-up Day,” the Council added.

“Residents are encouraged to participate in desilting drains, clearing choked gutters, removing refuse, and cleaning public spaces, markets, lorry parks, and other environmentally sensitive areas.”

The Council announced that the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, Fire Service, Immigration Service, Prisons Service, and National Ambulance Service will support community mobilization on Saturday to ensure the success of the exercise.

The ARCC is calling on chiefs, religious bodies, market associations, transport unions, youth groups, CSOs, the private sector and all residents to take part.

“Together, let us work towards building a cleaner, healthier and flood-resilient Ashanti Region, the statement concluded.
