BKOB Memorial Foundation launched to promote healthcare, education and community development

The Bryan Kwabena Osei Baah (BKOB) Memorial Foundation has been officially launched to advance healthcare, education and community development initiatives across Ghana, transforming the vision of the late Mfantsipim School student into a lasting legacy of hope and service.

The foundation was inaugurated during a ceremony held at the Calvary Methodist Church, Community 3, Site B, Tema, under the theme “Hope in Action, Love in Service.” The event brought together clergy, healthcare professionals, educators, Mfantsipim old boys, public officials, family members and well-wishers to celebrate the life and enduring impact of Bryan Kwabena Osei Baah, a former Class Prefect of Mfantsipim School.

Presiding over the ceremony, Very Rev. Emmanuel Ohene-Gyimah praised Bryan’s exemplary life and commended his family for turning their grief into a meaningful initiative that would positively impact countless lives.

He noted that the foundation reflects the family’s commitment to ensuring Bryan’s compassion and dedication to serving others continue to inspire future generations.

Bryan’s remarkable story of resilience was highlighted during the launch. Despite undergoing a major orthopaedic procedure that required six months of treatment, he persevered with his education, successfully completed his WASSCE examinations and later secured admission offers from both the University of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Speaking at the event, co-founder Ing. Alfred Otoo said the foundation was established not merely to preserve Bryan’s memory but to continue the mission he had begun.

“We are not honouring him today by creating something in his name. We are honouring him today by finishing what he started,” he said.

Healthcare has been identified as the foundation’s flagship priority. Its first major intervention will support the Atibie Kwahu CHPS Compound through improvements in healthcare infrastructure, provision of medical equipment and supplies, and patient welfare programmes.

The foundation also plans to provide treatment support, rehabilitation assistance, mobility aids and healthcare supplies to vulnerable children and families facing serious medical conditions. In addition, it intends to organize regular health outreach programmes, screening exercises, health education campaigns and disease prevention initiatives to improve access to quality healthcare in underserved communities while offering emotional and psychosocial support to patients and caregivers.

Chairperson Dr. Michael Awale Segbefia underscored the importance of philanthropy and collective responsibility in strengthening healthcare delivery.

“Supporting healthcare is not the responsibility of government alone. Through collective action and compassion, we can help families overcome difficult medical challenges and give hope to those who need it most,” he stated.

Beyond healthcare, the BKOB Memorial Foundation will invest in education by instituting an annual Best General Arts Student Award at Mfantsipim School and sponsoring university admission expenses for brilliant but financially disadvantaged students.

The launch attracted broad support, including from Tema West MP, Hon. James Enu, who joined guests and supporters in making contributions and pledges toward the foundation’s activities. Ms. Juliet Nkansah of Mfantsipim School also paid tribute to Bryan’s life, describing him as a young leader whose dedication and determination continue to inspire many.

As it begins operations, the BKOB Memorial Foundation says it remains committed to transforming lives through healthcare support, educational empowerment and community development, guided by its motto: “Hope in Action, Love in Service.”
