Kumasi Music Industry will ‘die’ if…………Frank Mensah Pozo
Kumasi – based Highlife musician, Frank Mensah Pozo has attributed the decline of the Kumasi Music Industry to the unattractiveness of the art thereby driving away the few interested investors. He said the problems stem from the musicians, radio disc jockeys and event organizers.
The Highlife musician said the notion of Kumasi artistes having to move to the capital city, Accra before making it to the top of their career should not be tolerated. He mentioned names such as Nana Tuffour, Okomfour Kwadee, Lord Kenya, Bodo Steiger who were not resident in Accra when they had their breakthrough.
Frank Mensah Pozo who was speaking in an interview with Collins Agyemang (Collins T.), host of popular entertainment talk show ‘Anokyekrom’ on OTEC FM said, to begin with, musicians need to really understand the business aspect of the industry and upgrade their arts to meet the modern trends of entertainment.
He said we could learn a thing or two from the Nigerian Entertainment Industry where positive results are being reaped after huge funds were pumped in.
Frank Mensah Pozo came into the limelight when he collaborated with the late Tommy Wiredu on the ‘Susu Biribi’ album which was an instant hit. After his partner’s demise, Frank has stayed relevant in the music industry churning hits such as Apem Koraa (ft. Okyeame Kwame), Fre Me, Manu Meho, Mato Mmpa Tia.
