Nigerian Traders’ report to Prez Buhari was false– GUTA

The Ashanti Regional chapter of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), has described the report presented to the President of Nigeria, Mahamadu Buhari, by the Nigerian Union of Traders Association Ghana (NUTAG) as “fabricated and distorted facts”.

NUTAG on Tueday October 9, 2018 petitioned the President Mahamadu Buhari over the continuous locking of about 400 Nigerian shops in Ghana by Ghanaian authorities.

The petition which was received by Senior Special Assistant to president Buhari on Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri Erewa, explained that Nigerian Traders were being molested and harrased in Ghana with special reference to the Ashanti Region.

The report further explained that shops of some Nigerian traders in Ghana were burned down or locked up. A situation that has forced some Nigerians to commit suicide in Ghana.

However the Ashanti Regional Chairman for GUTA, Anthony Oppong, at a news conference on Monday October 29, 2018 refuted the report, adding that the report contains blatant lies and twisted facts.

He noted that the move by NUTAG to fabricate stories about Ghana has dent the image of the country. Mr. Oppong consequently called on ECOWAS Communities to disregard the report by NUTAG to President Buhari.
