Ghana Gas CEO Hands Over New Astro Turf to Asokwa Community

Dr Ben KD Asante, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Ghana Gas Company Limited has commissioned a modern astro turf built for the Asokwa community at the Presbyterian Basic and JHS school premises.
Joined by some leaders including traditional and religious as well as staff from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Dr Asante said the decision to build the astro turf for Asokwa was based on the request from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah.
He noted that the Assembly throught the MCE made a strong case for the project and having been convinced the Board and Management of Ghana Gas decided to accede to the request.
“Today’s inauguration of this astro turf is in fulfilment of the promise the board and management of Ghana Gas gave to the MCE and the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and we are committed to doing more for the people of this community including the construction of a 6 unit classroom block for an Atonsu School”, the CEO stated.
The CEO commended Britz Engineering Limited, the contractor for the project, for carrying out an excellent job and delivering same on time.

The CEO said the Ghana Gas Company Limited is solely responsible for the production of Gas for industrial and domestic use, revealing that currently they cater for 50% of the country’s Gas needs.
The Company, he also revealed is anchored on about 4 pillars of operation in their corporate social responsibility work.
These are health, education, water and sanitation as well as sports, adding that Lady Julia Hospital in Asokwa was being upgraded and plans were far advanced for the construction of a school facility in Atonsu.
“We have invested in people and the Ghanaian economy in all the four areas of our corporate social responsibility work and currently all our workforce is wholly Ghanaian having ended our contract with the Chinese where half of what we were using to pay them is being used to pay Ghanaian technicians and scientists we have trained and employed and thereby saving the country 15 million cedis every month”, Dr Asante stressed.
NPP Chairman:
Asokwa NPP Chairman, Benjamin Fosu Nkromah on behalf of the Member of Parliament and the constituency thanked the President and the Ghana Gas CEO for providing Asokwa with such a facility.
He noted that apart from it being a development project, the facility would help unearth many sporting talents in the community.
Chief
Nana Fe-Baamoah, Regent of Asokwa commended government and Dr Ben Asante for showing commitment to the development of Asokwa.
He urged other Asokwa indigenes who are placed in high places to emulate the gesture by the Ghana Gas CEO and push for the total development of the community.
Clergy:
Reverend Yaw Barimah, Presiding Minister at the Asokwa Presbyterian Church thanked Ghana Gas for the project.
He noted that as direct beneficiaries of the project, the church would collaborate with the Asokwa Municipal Assembly to maintain the facility to serve its intended purpose.
