Nana Addo cuts sod for the construction of a 4-tier interchange at Suame

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of the four-tier Suame Interchange with a pledge to adhere to the completion date of the project strictly.

The much-anticipated project is located on the site of what is the famous Suame roundabout in the Ashanti Region. President Akuffo Addo has assured the people of Asanteman in particular that he will deliver the project before 2024.

The sod-cutting event for the much-awaited project on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, brought together thousands of people to Suame, including chiefs, Members of Parliament, Municipal chief executives, members of the New Patriotic Party NPP among others

Addressing the gathering, President Akufo-Addo explained that the government’s decision to convert the Suame Roundabout to an interchange will significantly reduce road accidents and injuries, reduce travel times and congestion as well as reduce freight transport costs in the region.

The president disclosed that the project would be in two phases with the first phase comprising the four-tier Interchange, two overpasses and the widening of sections of the ring road.

” The second phase of the project will also see some roads developed including the Offinso Road(N10) 3km Suame roundabout- Abusuakuruwa, Western Bypass 2km Suame Roundabout-Sofoline- Interchange, Mampong Road South(N10) 1.2KM Suame Roundabout-Kejetia, Eastern Bypass 1.4km Suame Roundabout-New Tafo Road and Mampong Road North (IR4) 1.9KM Suame Roundabout- Magazine New Road”. He said.

President Akuffo said he was one of the happiest persons in the country owing to the fact that he has finally fulfilled a promise made to residents of the Ashanti Region on the Suame Interchange.

For his part, the Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said President Akufo-Addo’s name will forever remain in the history books of the Ashanti Region over this monumental project.

He decried the huge traffic situation at the Suame Roundabout and its adjoining roads and said the project will help ease the stress on commuters and residents who ply that road.
