Agric students begin school today.

The five (5) Colleges of Agriculture Students will today 6th November, 2017 begin school after been boycott for about one month, demanding restoration of their allowances as done for the Nursing and Midwives trainees.

The SRC President for Kwadaso Agriculture College in Kumasi, Stanley Abeiku Mensah, who disclosed this to Otec FM’ Kwaku Anane Jr said the Ministry of Agriculture has met them and asked to go back to school and study while they are preparing to meet them to solve the problem amicably.

“Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon George Oduro and other staff from the ministry have met us and assured us to go back to school and study while they are preparing to meet us and address our concern, so all of us are going back to school,” he said.

Over 2,000 students from various Agriculture Colleges in the country on Wednesday, October 11, demonstrated at the Ministry of Agriculture to demand the restoration of their allowances as done for trainee nurses.

The students of the Agriculture Colleges as part of their protest to demand the restoration of allowances also boycotted lectures.

In response to the agitations of the Agric students, the sector minister Akoto Afriyie said their concerns have been presented to cabinet and government is working on the restoration of the allowances.

Stanley Mensah said they are hopeful that after their next meeting their concern will be addressed.

He therefore appealed to all students of the five (5) Colleges of Agriculture to obey the authorities and go back to school.
