Government to create 20,000 jobs under 1D1F Enable Youth Initiative

The government has rolled out the One District One Factory (1D1F) Enable Youth Initiative aimed at enhancing the agriculture value chain and reducing graduate unemployment and poverty in Ghana. 

Fifty-eight youth-owned and managed companies are expected to operate under the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) in Ghana.

The programme forms part of the 10-point industrialisation agenda of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, targeted at post-secondary graduates, Ghanaian youth between the ages of 24-35 years.

Speaking at the official launch of the initiative in Accra on Friday (23 December), Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen said the initiative will create 3,000 direct and 16,000 indirect jobs across the country.

“This particular initiative will contribute to employing almost 3,000 youth directly, but in addition to that it is also going to contribute indirectly to creating over 16,000 jobs in the various districts and municipalities.

“And it is important that as a government we create modules that provide sustainable jobs to the youth of this country,” Kyerematen said.
