World University Service of Canada Holds Stakeholder Engagement with Journalists to Promote Gender Equality

The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) , through its INVEST Project, has held a stakeholder engagement with top journalists from Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra regions.

The event, held on August 27, 2024, at the WUSC office, aimed to discuss how to curate stories and promote gender equality.

Journalists were taken through success stories of the “Invest in Her” project, where women in TVET areas are making changes in their societies.

Juliana Amoako-Twum, Public Engagement and Advocacy Advisor for the INVEST Project, emphasized WUSC’s commitment to building a more equitable and sustainable world for youth, especially women and refugees.

The INVEST project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, aims to empower 5,000 urban poor young women in Accra, Kumasi, and Sekondi-Takoradi.

As the project enters its final year, WUSC seeks to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including the media, to ensure continuity of project interventions.

She revealed that, engagement forum aimed to leverage the media’s platform to advocate for an inclusive environment for women to thrive in male-dominated trades.

She emphasized that, Journalists’ contributions were valued in achieving the objectives of promoting gender equality and sustainable advocacy.

Some journalists after the event commended WUSC for the move adding that the engagement was an eye opener

They pleged to use their platforms to promoting genda equality and women in TVET.
