Manhyia South MP alleges government interference in Tamakloe-Attionu’s sentencing

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has alleged that government interfered in the sentencing of former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu.
According to the MP, the former MASLOC CEO was not in prison custody until June 24, 2026, despite being extradited to Ghana on June 9, 2026.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah accused government of “playing games” with the conviction and sentencing.
“We are aware of government’s move to get her out of prison custody because she’s one of their own,” he stated.
“For the 15 days she has been in Ghana, government has interfered with a lawful order of a court of competent jurisdiction and that is contempt of court,” the MP added.
He warned that the Minority in Parliament will monitor the situation keenly to ensure the right thing is done.
Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in absentia by an Accra High Court in 2024 alongside former MASLOC Chief Operations Officer Daniel Axim.
The court found her guilty on multiple charges including stealing, conspiracy, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state, and sentenced her to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after she failed to return from a court-approved medical trip to the United States.
