Mintah Akandoh stressed the importance of ongoing public awareness and urged citizens to maintain clean environments, particularly as the rainy season nears, to prevent further disease outbreaks.

He also encouraged people to seek medical attention promptly if they suspect any symptoms of these diseases.

In a media briefing on Tuesday, February 18, following the receipt of medical supplies from the World Health Organisation (WHO) aimed at combating CSM in the Upper West Region, the Health Minister called on donors and the business community to assist in managing the  health crises.

“I can confidently say that the situation is absolutely under control. Our health professionals are on top of the issue, and as we have already indicated, WHO has also dispatched some technical assistance to us, and we will be moving all of them to the northern part of the country,” stated Akandoh.

“Again, we have enough antibiotics that we can use to cure the outbreak, but what we have consistently been advocating is the early reporting to health facilities,” he added.

Akandoh’s call for calm and cooperation underscores the efforts being made to control the outbreaks and highlights the critical role of public cooperation in ensuring the effectiveness of these measures.
