Frimpong-Manso Institute calls for reform in recruitment process amidst tragic El-Wak losses

The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) is urging authorities to learn from the tragic deaths of six female potential recruits and overhaul the recruitment process to ensure fairness, transparency, and safety.

In a statement, on Tuesday November 18, 2025,FMI expressed sadness over the incident and emphasized the need for a flawless recruitment exercise to bring hope to desperate youth and mitigate the social and security implications of unemployment.

“The massive gatherings of the youth at the various recruitment centers, and the degree of desperation among them, encapsulate the magnitude of unemployment in Ghana,” said Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, President of FMI.

FMI is calling for innovative and sustainable policy actions to create decent livelihoods for the needy, going beyond mere condemnation of recruitment lapses and promises of job creation.

“Rather, the time has come to continually design and vigorously pursue innovative, pragmatic, and sustainable policy actions to secure decent means of livelihood for the needy,”.Thr release said.

FMI believes that this will instill hope in school graduates and significantly minimize the social consequences and security implications of youth unemployment.
