KNUST graduates 17,132 students at its 59th congregation ceremony

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held its 59th Congregation Ceremony, graduating a total of 17,132 students across various colleges and programmes.

Out of this number, 221 were postgraduate students, with the remaining 16,911 being undergraduate students who successfully completed their academic journeys.

The week-long ceremony brought together faculty, families, alumni and distinguished guests to celebrate the academic achievements of the Class of 2025.

The event highlighted KNUST’s continued commitment to producing skilled graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development and global advancement.

In an address delivered during the ceremony, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson commended the graduating class for their resilience, noting that the accomplishments of the students reflected the institution’s long-standing culture of excellence, innovation and leadership.

She emphasized that KNUST remains focused on strengthening academic standards, expanding research output and nurturing graduates who are well prepared to meet emerging challenges in industry, health, technology, governance and entrepreneurship.

The 221 postgraduate students who received master’s and doctoral degrees were celebrated for their dedication to advanced research and scholarship. Their work, according to the university, contributes significantly to knowledge creation and national problem-solving efforts.

The 16,911 undergraduate graduates were also praised for meeting the rigorous academic requirements of the university and upholding KNUST’s tradition of hard work and creativity.

Speakers at the congregation urged the new graduates to carry forward the values instilled in them during their time at the university, integrity, innovation, service and leadership.

They encouraged the students to apply their skills toward transforming their communities and supporting Ghana’s socio-economic growth.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional conferment of degrees, presentation of awards and expressions of pride from families and faculty. As the 17,132 graduates step into the next chapter of their lives, KNUST reaffirmed its commitment to shaping future leaders who will excel locally and internationally.
