Plan early to avoid Easter travel rush – GPRTU
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has advised citizens planning to travel to their various destinations for the Easter festivities to do so early to avoid a potential shortage of buses.
As Easter approaches, many people are expected to travel to different parts of the country, a situation that often leads to a shortage of buses.
Speaking to Citi News on Friday, March 27, 2026, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Abass Imoro, said the union is relying on the government to provide additional buses to help prevent the shortage of buses.
“Government said it’s bringing new buses, if it brings new buses, definitely, it’ll reduce pressure on transportation, so we’re all waiting for the buses to arrive”, he said.
Mr Imoro further admonished potential travellers during the Easter holidays to start planning ahead to avoid overcrowding at bus terminals.
“We’ll always advise that those who want to travel to their villages for the festivities shouldn’t wait till the last minute before they travel, they should target three or four days ahead so that some will leave today and some will leave tomorrow”, he noted.
