Amansie Central Assembly Opens New CHPS Compound at Fahiakobo

The Amansie Central District Assembly has commissioned a newly constructed and fully equipped Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Fahiakobo to improve access to healthcare services for residents.

The facility, which comes with nurses’ quarters and a mechanized borehole, was officially inaugurated by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang, during a ceremony held on Monday, May 26.

Construction of the project commenced on November 17, 2025, as part of efforts by the Assembly to strengthen healthcare delivery and bring quality medical services closer to communities in the district.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Obeng Agyemang said the project demonstrates the Assembly’s commitment to improving healthcare, especially maternal and child health, preventive care, and emergency response services.

“This facility represents our determination to ensure that people in our communities have access to quality healthcare without travelling long distances,” he stated.
The DCE commended the District Health Directorate for deploying competent and committed health workers to the facility ahead of its opening.
“I want to thank the District Health Directorate for posting dedicated staff here even before the commissioning. Their readiness shows the seriousness attached to healthcare delivery in this community,” he said.
Mr. Obeng Agyemang further urged health authorities to intensify public education on the services available at the CHPS compound and work closely with residents to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
He noted that the Community Health Management Committee had played an instrumental role in supporting healthcare delivery efforts within the area.
The DCE also advised residents to seek medical attention early whenever they fall ill and warned against self-medication and the use of unqualified health practitioners.
“People must avoid self-medication and seek treatment from qualified professionals at the facility. Early reporting of illnesses can save lives,” he cautioned.
Mr. Obeng Agyemang expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for supporting the vision behind the project. He also acknowledged the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, for his policy guidance, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his support and coordination.
