Government reaffirms commitment to National Security at Counter-Terrorism meeting

Muntaka Mubarak, Ghana’s Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency, has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting the country from rising terrorist threats within the sub-region.

Addressing the National Counter-Terrorism Stakeholders Meeting in Accra on April 9, 2026, the Minister emphasized that safeguarding national security remains a top priority for the current administration.

“This administration remains focused on strengthening intelligence systems, improving inter-agency coordination, and securing our borders to protect every Ghanaian,” he stated.

The Minister highlighted the growing complexity of security challenges and stressed the need for a coordinated national response. He underscored the importance of timely information sharing and the development of reliable data systems as essential tools in modern counter-terrorism efforts.

“Timely information sharing and reliable databases are critical tools in modern security,” he noted, urging stakeholders to set aside institutional competition in favor of national unity. “We must rise above institutional rivalry and work together in the national interest.”

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, the Interior Minister assured participants that Ghana would not relent in its efforts to maintain peace and stability.

“We will not be complacent. Under our leadership, Ghana will continue to remain a beacon of peace and stability in the sub-region,” he declared.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders in the security sector to discuss strategies aimed at strengthening Ghana’s resilience against potential terrorist threats.
