ECG MD assures Ghanaians of reliable power as infrastructure projects advance in Ashanti Region

The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Engineer Kwame Kpekpena, has assured Ghanaians of improved and more reliable electricity service as the company rolls out strategic measures to address persistent power outages affecting homes and businesses nationwide.
According to him, ECG has implemented a series of precautionary and corrective interventions aimed at minimizing frequent power cuts and stabilizing supply to support economic activities and daily life.
The Managing Director made the remarks during an inspection tour of key ongoing power infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region on Thursday April 23,2026.
The tour covered critical sites including the Ridge Substation, Ejisu (Emina), Fumesua, and Abuakwa.
He explained that the visit was to assess the progress of work, identify operational challenges, and ensure immediate solutions are implemented to fast-track project completion.
He emphasized that these projects are essential to strengthening the region’s power distribution network and reducing the incidence of unplanned outages.
“ECG is committed to delivering efficient and dependable electricity services,” Engineer Kpekpena said. “We are prioritizing investments in infrastructure to meet growing demand and improve service delivery to our customers.”
Supporting this commitment, Head of Special Projects at ECG in Accra, Engineer Kwabena Bediako, issued a strong warning against the growing menace of cable theft. He called on the general public to remain vigilant and support efforts to safeguard critical power infrastructure.
“Protecting our installations is a shared responsibility,” Engineer Bediako stated.
“We need the public’s cooperation to stop cable theft and ensure uninterrupted power supply.”
